From January 2013 until August 2015 I worked as a visualizer in an advertising agency called Ogilvy, Delhi. There I worked on all aspects of design, including conceptualisation, execution and printing and post-production processes. I worked for various brands such as MINI, Incredible India, BMW and BEST rice, to name a few. I also had the opportunity to display a poster series for an international campaign by Incredible India called ‘Find What You Seek’ at the Cannes Film Festival.

Research question

My research revolves around the topic of aesthetics in design. Below are certain questions that I will be answering through my research at the end of the year:

  1. Why do aesthetics matter in design?
  2. What are the different types of aesthetics that affect graphic design? (e.g. aesthetics in culture.)
  3. Why do designers regularly ignore ‘aesthetics in design’ as a subject and practice when it is crucial for them?
  4. How important are aesthetics compared to function?
  5. How can aesthetics help a graphic designer become a ‘good designer’?
