Research Question

For as long as I can remember I’ve always been intrigued by the way how we perceive our existence as humans.

As a little boy, I used to lay in bed realising my life was confined. Over the years, the discrepancy between my desire for familiarity and order and the external silence and chaos of the world became an ever more present reality.

My research derives from this notion of incompetence or impossibility, which I try to manifest on several levels within my practice.
In the first year of this program I mainly focussed on recorded performances which show physical acts in which I try to succeed at failing.
This process resulted in an artistic method I call The Attempt. In the quest for seeking meaning, I believe meaning may be found in the attempt to find it. Currently I am working on translating this method towards photography. So far I’ve came to the conclusion I am mainly fascinated by the medium its limitations. Also, I am interested in the opportunities of approaching the spacial context as a place of creation.
To work in and with a space, creating site-specific presentations which mainly focus on belonging and unfulfilled desire.
