Emping Bende (the Emping Bandits) - Indah Hijmans

De Emping Bende (the Emping Bandits) is a story about uninhibited imagination, queer friendship and developing identity. The pilot episode, het glimmende zwaard (the glowing sword), revolves around building confidence in gender expression. We follow Nara and Bulan around during one of their adventurous adventures in the storage room of Rumah Sayang, the restaurant of Bulan's parents. Upon encountering a high fence and entering a seemingly dark forest, odd things start to happen.

My name is Indah Hijmans and I'm an illustrator and 2D animator. Most of my time is either spent drawing or making music. With my work, I always aim to strengthen solidarity and create a sense of belonging. It must be no surprise that my creative universe revolves around intersectionality, activism and silly perspectives of how I perceive the ordinary.
