JULIANA - Naomi van Heemst

The short film ‘JULIANA’ explores the theme of home as we follow the main character’s journey from her work office to her house. During this journey, she travels through various dreams that illustrate the differences between the two opposing worlds of the Netherlands and Curaçao. All the while she contemplates to herself and also lets the audience think with her – “what does ‘home’ really mean to you?”

I’m Naomi van Heemst, a 24-year old illustrator and animator based in Amsterdam. My work is a combination of bright colours and character based art with a focus on storytelling, contemporary pop culture and black representation.
