Situated Design Testimonial - Nick Bromann

Blog

Nick is a Situated Design alumni,  film-maker and photographer from the United States who graduated from MIVC in 2021 American Landscapes: Views from the Slow Road was his graduation project.

My experience at MIVC was that of realization and growth. I came into the program as a corporate graphic designer, and I left a fine art photographer and filmmaker. I discovered at MIVC that the discipline that I had been working in was actually not what I wanted to do with my career at all, and that photography and film were the best way for me to convey my ideas, along with theorizing my own methods for making my work that were effective for me and my practice.

I would recommend this course to literally every creative practitioner. No matter what it is that you like to do or make, the phenomenal tutors at MIVC will not only dig deep and push you to make your best work, but also think with you and help you discover who you are at your core, both as an artist, and as a person.

Currently, I am living in Denmark working on getting my fine art photography practice off the ground. Using the wandering methods that I theorized at MIVC, I am adding to that by beginning to introduce portraiture and photographing strangers into that process. That's still a work in progress though!
