Inspiring work

We are looking for a motivated and inspirational Arts professional with a contemporary (international) practice in socially engaged digital and moving image production. You will be part of an interdisciplinary team and teach within the Visual Arts and Post Contemporary department. You will bring along a vision on artistic research and will be responsible for developing curriculum content, such as modules, lectures and workshops complementary to the programme framework. You will undertake an appropriate balance of teaching, studio practice supervision, assessment and related administration. This is a highly ambitious and versatile Masters programme in a stage of development and growth, where there is an emphasis on interdisciplinarity and collaboration within our existing departments. Arts practice, theory and criticism are co-taught, encouraging dialogue in relation to current social issues and civic urgencies that are relevant today, where the role of art & design is valued as a key tool for social change. The Master of Arts in Fine Art and Design programme advocates the greater embedment of arts practices in society, where our research connects to six thematic currents in the field: (1) Migrant Aesthetics; (2) Heterodox Identities; (3) Economics of Production; (4) Emerging Technologies; (5) Ecological Sustainability; (6) Creative Industries.

Perfect match

You will bring along a vision on artistic research, combined with knowledge of digital media and moving image production, its theories and criticism. You will be a committed educator and able to bring knowledge, creativity and enthusiasm to the delivery of the programme. You will have strong experience of contemporary art and be familiar with theoretical and practical approaches to current social issues and able to develop knowledge frameworks that understand our entanglement with environmental, social and cultural factors. You must be able to facilitate a high-quality learning environment, communicate a broad range of practical and theoretical concerns through hands-on teaching through tutorials, modules, workshop activities, lectures and seminars. You must be able to inspire and motivate students, to design activities appropriate at master level, and demonstrate experience of educational and administrative management. You will have a Masters degree or PhD, recent experience of HE teaching, and detailed knowledge of contemporary research and theoretical issues within the wider field of artistic practices, as well as a developing research profile or professional practice.
